I believe I am not the first one ever lived on this planet or the last one. Many have traveled the same/similar life path in the past and preserved their learnings/observations/experiences in the form of the prosperous book(s).
Imagine living 80 years and coming up with a brilliant idea vs. reading a book written 80yrs ago. When I become a reader, a world of new possibilities opened, which I could not realize from short snippets of blog posts, short videos, or search results.
Reading is a beautiful cognitive process that involves decoding symbols to arrive at meaning. It is an active process of constructing the meanings of words and a complex interaction between text & reader, shaped by prior knowledge, experiences & attitude.
When I came across the idea that the world’s most successful reads at least 20mins a day, I assumed that I would be successful (rich, intelligent, sharp) by reading, but it never happens like that.
Everything changed the moment my coach asked me, “where are your notes?”.
Don’t read a book for the sake of reading; read to take notes.
A goal is toward looking forward; a clue is toward looking backward; you may find clues when you invest in books.
